The closet is done!

Donovan has been working on a built-in unit for Brighton's closet. Well, it is actually so we can turn Brighton's closet into Brighton and Rigley's closet. It turned out really nice -notice the base board and chair rail he put up, it's painted and trimmed just like the room! We'll be putting bins in the tower of shelves. I'll take another pic of it once we get it loaded.
Yes, the bottom racks are at different heights - they are supposed to be that way b/c one side will be Brighton's and one will be Rigley's, so the length of their clothes is different.

Here is Brighton playing in the new closet.
My Funny Boy!

So Brighton typically does or says things everyday that crack me up, but today he had quite a few! Here is a pic of him in the corner. He turned around just as I snapped it, but he had been standing there facing the corner - not because he was in trouble, but because he was mad at me for telling him no!Brighton was playing and not paying attention to us, or so I thought, when I asked Donovan if he was scared about Rigley coming (I'm a bit nervous about managing two kids!). We hear a very resound "YES!" from Brighton. Then he puts his hands together and says, "Brighton scared of Rigley." Donovan asked him if he was scared because Rigley was going to take attention away from him and he said, "Yes, Daddy." :)

What is Brighton learning at church???

We got Brighton from his class at church Sunday and as we were walking to the car, we went through our usual questions.
Did you have a good time at church? "yes"
What did you play? "cars"
Did you have a story? "yes"
Did you sing songs? "yes"
What did you have for a snack? "COOKIES! Brighton wants more cookies!"
(For those of you who don't know - Brighton talks about himself in the third person!)

So we get in the car and hear "Brighton wants a cookie, puh-leeeese!" all the way home. We make him eat lunch first and tell him we'll get one at Silver Dollar City. Below are pictures of him eating a cookie at SDC. I know, I know - Gasp! Shock! Awe! His mother actually let him have a cookie - made with refined sugar?!?! Apparently I'm getting lax in my old age - I am 30 now!

Since no trip to Silver Dollar City is complete without pictures of Brighton playing in his favorite area, the ball room - here they are...

He actually wanted to play in the water this time. He and Daddy had alot of fun with the jumping fountains. He had just gotten squirted in the face in this pic.

My 15 seconds

I know the saying is "15 minutes of fame," but I think mine is more like 15 seconds! I was on TV this morning. One of the stations called last week and asked me to come on the morning show to talk about Stroller Strides. I had an empty stroller because I had to be there at 6:15am and for those of you who know Brighton, that time doesn't make for a happy boy. I think I looked goofy and H-U-G-E, but if you want to see it, click here.
I got my new duallie stroller yesterday and put it together today. Here is Brighton chilling in it while watching Caillou!

Weekend at Mimi's

We spent this past weekend in Bethany at Mimi's house. Brighton loves playing with his cousins. It makes me sad that he can't see them as often as I would like, but at least we are close enough to go up every once in a while.
On Saturday, we had my birthday party at Mom's house. After church on Sunday, we stopped by Kent & Shawna's house. He's almost done with the kitchen - it looks really good! I'm glad that there is an end in site now for their remodeling, just a couple of more rooms to go. It's been hard on them, I know, but it looks wonderful. After their house, we went to see Donovan's Grandma Dixie and then stopped by his Uncle Roger and Aunt Ronda's house - their daughter had just gotten there from CO with her three little girls. It was really good to see them. Brighton also got to see sheep and calves while visiting Donovan's family. They never came close enough to get a picture of him with them, though.

Happy Birthday to me!!

Well, today is my birthday. My 30th, in fact, in case you were wondering. It doesn't bother me, but I am surprised by it! When you're a teenager, 30 sounds SO OLD. I don't feel old, though. Well, right at this moment I feel quite old - like an 80 year old b/c my hips hurt and my back hurts and my feet are swelling. I'm pretty sure that's just being 34+ weeks pregnant, though, and not the fact that I turned 30 today.
We had a good day. We ran some errands and then went out for lunch. I have been wanting to try this Mexican place downtown, Maria's, because they are famous for their fried tacos. It was okay. Nicole definitely makes better fried tacos - much, much better! After lunch we headed to Jordan Valley Park to see the fountains. We had never been there before, so I didn't know that we really needed to be in swim gear to get the full effect. Brighton had fun anyway. Next time we'll be more prepared.

Happy Father's Day!

We went to early service at church this morning - Gary Smalley was the speaker, it was a really good message. After church and a quick brunch (from Hardee's - tres chic!), we were off to Silver Dollar City!
Beau, Joni, & Grant met us there. We had a really good time, but I didn't even think to get any pics of all of us together or even one of just the little boys. We, of course, had to head to Geyser Gulch to play in the ball room. Despite the heat, Brighton would play in here for hours if we would let him!

Kid's Fest is going on right now and one of the booths they had was full of sand tables! Each table had different colored sand which mixes very well with sweaty little hands. Daddy had to take Brighton to the men's room and rinse him off before we could leave.

What a nice morning!

Yesterday morning was so nice. We slept in a bit (got up around 8-ish) and then all of us went to Farmer's Market and the park. Oh how I miss Fayetteville's Farmer's Market! There are so many more vendors there and Square Gardens are beautiful! The FM here is in a far corner of the mall parking lot! There wasn't a very wide variety of items to choose from, but we did pick up some vegetable starts to plant a patio garden - a tomato plant, 2 kinds of sweet peppers, and a jalapeno. We also met a really nice farmer who raises cattle and hogs. They are all no hormone, no antibiotic, and corn-fed. We got some brats from him - no nitrites, yea!
After FM, we went over to the park where we have playgroup and Brighton was able to show his Daddy all the things he plays on with his "friends."
Here is Donovan and Brighton going down the big slide - it's the first time Brighton has went down this one!
Here they are on the monkey bars!

Playing outside!

Brighton is the ultimate boy - he loves to be outside and play in the dirt. I am learning how fun it is to do the laundry of a toddler boy. ;)
We got him a sand table today. Donovan ran and got some sand and set it up in the backyard for him. He played for about an hour on it and only came in because I made him.
Here are some pictures of Brighton playing outside:

Brighton loves church!

Sunday morning neither Donovan or I were feeling that great, so we weren't planning on going to church. Brighton had went to bed late on Saturday night and didn't wake up until 9:30 or so. About 10am, he started dancing around saying "Church today! Church today!" He asks to go to church almost every day and had been talking about it on Saturday, so I had told him that we could go to church the next day. Needless to say, we jumped up and hurried around to go to church.
We went to the 11:30 service. I think we'll stick to the 8:30, though. I really like the teachers in his class at the early service.

Here's a pic of him in his new outfit for church. (Don't mind the mess in the background!)
Besides church, one of Brighton's favorite things to do is read his books. He's got an amazing memory and remembers how the book reads. Here is a video of him reading!
