ABC's and more

Brighton was playing with my exercise bands today and started singing the ABC's all on his own. Here he is doing his version of bicep curls while singing the ABC song, just like we do in Stroller Strides class!

Another song he has learned at Stroller Strides is Twinkle, Twinkle.

I gave Brighton his first taste of candy last night, a piece of candy corn. This is what he told me at lunch today when I was seeing if he was done eating.

This morning he got his Elmo "building hat" and asked me to get his blocks so he could build a big block tower.

Seven weeks

Rigley was 7 weeks old on Sunday (9/14). Here are some pics of the boys after we got home from church.

On a completely unrelated note, Brighton went to his first friend b-day party on Saturday (9/13). He had a really good time and behaved really well. That is in spite of the fact that before we went he kept telling me, "We're going to Logan's house for his birthday so I can play with his new toys!" ;)

Playing with his toys

Rigley started playing with the toys on his bouncy on Friday (9/12).

As soon as Brighton saw the camera, he kept saying, "Take my picture." So, here it is...

The world needs more Brighton

Brighton is an adorable, hilarious genius! Just in case you don't believe me, here are some pictures and stories to justify that statement. :)

He so loves to help. Here he is carrying the trash to the door for me.

He got a Diego "bike" for his birthday, but has not wanted to put the helmet on until just the other day.

After Daddy gave him his bath last night, he came running down the hall telling me his had his towel! (At least he strategically placed the towel!)

He is so funny. I was talking to Rigley and told him he was so cute. Brighton was in the room playing and he looks up and tells me, "No, Mommy. I'M so cute."

Brighton must have a photographic memory because he recognizes store and brand logos. I was flipping through a magazine and he was looking at it with me. There was a Home Depot ad on one page. He points to the logo and says, "Look, Mommy. Home Depot. We can help." (On Home Depot commercials, their tagline is "You can do it, We can help.") He has, of course, been able to recognize the Target bullseye for many months, now. We must go there more than I realize!

I love this boy!

Found his fingers - 6 Weeks

Rigley found his fingers and has started sucking on them now. He was doing it, so I went to get the camera. Then, of course, he wouldn't do it anymore. I think he was tired of me trying to get him to put his fingers back in his mouth.

Rigley turned 6 weeks old on Sunday (9/7). Here is a better picture of him!

He has also really started cooing this week. He is also smiling much more - it's so sweet.

Jumpmania!

For playgroup yesterday, we went to Jumpmania - an inflatable fun center. Brighton finally got into the inflatables & then it was difficult to get him out to go home. I wish we would have taken him there before now - I found out we wouldn't have even had to pay for him before he turned 2!

Here he is bouncing with his friend Logan.

Rain, rain, come again!

We had a few days of rain this week, which was perfect for Brighton to try out his new rain boots and coat from his Seattle cousins (how appropriate, right?). When it was raining and there were lots of puddles, though, he didn't want to go outside. I finally got him out and we found a couple of tiny puddles.
His rain coat fits very well, actually a tad bit big...that is until we put the hood up. As most of you know, Brighton has quite a melon! (Just more room for his brains!) I think we'd have to buy a 5T coat if we wanted the hood to fit!

Brighton chillin'

I know this is not a revelation for anyone, but taking care of two kids can be really hard sometimes! Some days Rigley decides to wake up and cry right about the time I am getting Brighton down for his nap. This happened the other day and I asked Brighton just to relax in the chair while I fed Rigley. He was being really quiet and when I looked over, this is what I saw...He had fallen asleep in the chair. After I snapped this pic, I did move him to his bed so he'd be more comfortable.

Being a big brother is hard work! Sometimes, Brighton just needs to relax and chill.

He's smiling!

Rigley started smiling when he's awake! He's been smiling and laughing in his sleep since we brought him home from the hospital, but on August 29 he smiled when I was talking to him. I wasn't sure if it was just a fluke or not, since he also rolled over that morning, too! He was laying on the ottoman and I turned to grab a diaper, when I turned back he was laying on his stomach! However, he has not rolled over since. He has been smiling at us, though!
I finally caught one for a picture, too.

Rigley's Dedication

We had Rigley dedicated on Sunday (8/31) at Lone Star Baptist Church by my brother, CF, who is the pastor there. Rigley turned 5 weeks old today, too.

Brighton's 2nd B-day party

Even though Brighton's b-day was a few weeks ago, we had his party at Mimi's house over Labor Day so that his cousins could celebrate with us. He wanted a Handy Manny party.
