My big boy!

I guess Brighton's not a baby anymore. :( We went to the dr's office yesterday and they had him stand on the big scale to weigh - no more stripping him down to the diaper and sitting on the baby scale. He just stepped right on and stood still until we were done - I was amazed. He looked so grown up, too - I was going to take a picture and post, but he got too dirty before I could get one taken!

Recap on the past week

I have not been very successful at posting current updates to our blog! I'll try to do better!
Donovan's birthday was last Friday, so on Wednesday Brighton & I went shopping. I kept telling him we were getting a present for Daddy. Only in the store did I say we were getting a movie. Well, that night at dinner, I say to Brighton - tell Daddy we got him a surprise today. He says, "Surprise, Daddy! Movie!" So much for keeping secrets! It's a good thing that he only knows letters and can't read yet, or he probably would have told him what movie, too! It was very cute.
Friday, after Stroller Strides class and playgroup, we went to Silver Dollar City for Donovan's birthday. We tried to ride the train with Brighton (after getting our funnel cake, of course, just like my mom taught me!). As soon as we sit down, Brighton started saying NO, NO, NO and crying. Thankfully we were able to get off before the train left the station. I am sure the people seated around us were even more thankful we got off! We were just walking around and decided to go into the Geyser Gulch area to see what all was there. They have this huge room full of foam balls, vacuum tubes, canons, and such. Brighton loved it! In fact, he loved it so much that we were there for about 1 1/2 hours. He still cried when we made him leave. So, if you ever need to find us at SDC, you know where we'll be!
Here is a video of him playing there (It's not very good quality - it's from my cell phone)

Late post about Mother's Day

So, I know it was over a week ago, but I thought I'd make an entry about my Mother's Day this year. It was SO great! We got up and went to church. In nursery, Brighton colored me a Mother's Day picture and made a picture with his thumbprint that had a poem on it. He did such a good job on both of them, I can't believe he's so big that he's making me presents!
Donovan taught him to say "Happy Mother's Day!", so he told me that a few times - very cute! In my card from Brighton were season passes to Silver Dollar City for Donovan & I. Yea! I also got a really nice Cuisinart blender, which I have been wanting.
The presents were great, but the best part was just spending the day together. We decided to head to Branson even though it was unseasonably cold - on the way down, the radio said with the wind chill, it was in the 40's. Because of the weather, we decided not to go to SDC. We went to the outlet mall and picked up a couple of things and then headed down to the Landing. We had a late lunch at Joe's Crab Shack, where I had the super yummy coconut shrimp! Then we did a little shopping there. It had finally warmed up a bit, so we stopped by Marble Slab and then took our ice cream out to the benches where we could see the fountains and the lake. Afterwards, we walked the trail by the lake for a bit and headed home. I had a wonderful day with my family!
Here's a pic of Bright & me (in our sweaters b/c it was so cold!).

Our First Blog Post!

Donovan & I talked about starting a blog and set-up this page months and months ago and I'm just now getting around to writing our first entry!
Brighton is 20 months old now and I enjoy him SO much! I am trying to cherish every moment with him before Rigley is born in 10 weeks or so.
(Oh my gosh!!!! 10 weeks and we'll have two kids!! That is crazy and scary. I try not to think about it too much! I'm excited, but a bit nervous about handling them both!)
I am amazed at my son. Of course I might be partial, but I think he's a genius baby! He puts words together so well, his sentences get better every day! He uses verb tenses - no idea how he picked that one up! For example, if he wants to do something himself he says "I do it.", but if he has done something he will say "I did it!" He's also learning his letters and can recognize quite a few of them without help. He's got a steel-trap memory, too! He quotes from books we read or cartoons he watches. Here's a video of him saying "Bills, bills, bills, nothing but bills!" This is from one of his Caillou books.
